[15] Comment about Atlanta's draft-2015 CSO NPDES Permits.

Protecting public health and the environment requires effective integration of the Safe Drinking Water Act's UIC permits with the Clean Water Act's NPDES (National Pollutant Discharge Elimination Program) permits.

In Georgia, the EPD (Environmental Protection Division) refuses to issue UIC permits for storing wastewater in aquifers. And the EPD issues NPDES permits which fail to require compliance with the Clean Water Act.

The EPA is supposed to oversee both of Georgia's UIC and NPDES permitting programs but that is not happening.
